The creativity for The Hunger Games is so deep and well thought-out. Way more politically charged than the movie adaptation without every feeling "preachy". I can't imagine someone reading The Hunger Games and not making some connections between the world of the book and the world we live in (which hits home even harder now than given the state of everything). The added details, such as the characters constantly filtering their actions through how the audience will perceive them, adds a level of dystopian horror to the story that isn't nearly as apparent in the films. The intensity of the violence and disturbing nature of the obstacles in the arena makes the stakes feel so much higher than I was expecting going in. Excited to continue this series!
